PeriScops is an innovative platform that centralizes the references of publications available in the scientific institutional repositories of the five universities of the Fédération WallonieBruxelles (FWB).

I

ts objective? To increase the visibility of research and offer easier access to scientific publications on a global scale.

Funded and coordinated by the FNRS, PeriScops was developed by ULiège Library, which won the public call for tenders thanks to its recognized expertise in managing scientific repositories.

The portal is designed to bring together, in a single-entry point, all scientific publications from the institutional repositories of the universities of the FWB. Thanks to powerful search features, a clear interface, and optimized bibliographic identification, PeriScops facilitates access to the scientific knowledge produced in the FWB.

Each day, the platform automatically harvests information and references from the institutional repositories of the five universities. It thus provides access to journal articles, books and book chapters, research reports, doctoral theses, working papers, patents, educational documents, as well as public outreach and popular science communications produced by the French-speaking scientific community in Belgium.

As soon as a new publication is added to a university’s institutional repository, it is automatically referenced on PeriScops. Users can register personalized alerts and receive email notifications at the frequency of their choice, based on specific themes.

A duplicatechecking system ensures the quality of references. When the same publication is reported by several institutions (for example, with coauthors from different universities), they are grouped into a single entry to avoid repetitions.

In addition, to open access to a wide range of scientific content, PeriScops allows crossthematic searches, thus offering a more complete view of the work available in a given field.
